Mirela Travar, Senior Program Associate of New Spaces of Culture, guided us through the ideas, proceses and programs they offer to the cultural scene. With residents we visited the construction site of Paromlin, and we also visited Tržnica Trnje, the future location of the Intercultural Social Centre.

The City of Zagreb has launched "New Spaces of Culture," a public institution designed to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive, and decentralized cultural ecosystem by providing a central hub for diverse cultural actors to collaborate on community-driven programs across renovated and newly constructed micro-locations; this initiative, born from the city's Cultural Development Plan and driven by input from numerous artists and experts, aims to enhance accessibility and inclusivity of culture throughout Zagreb, supporting existing initiatives while producing its own diverse range of events, workshops, and educational programs that span various artistic disciplines, fostering a dynamic cultural and social landscape that values participation, diversity, and innovation.

The opening of the Intercultural Social Center in Zagreb will respond to the needs of the wider civil society and local community, but also to the current social and cultural challenges facing the city of Zagreb. The model that will be established would be based on the principle of participatory governance and civil-public partnership, and we see it as an opportunity to create a dynamic place of dialogue and tolerance, solidarity, creativity, lifelong education and empowerment of citizens for active participation in society. The location planned for the Intercultural Social Center is Tržnica Trnje.
