KONTEJNER is a non-profit organization based in Zagreb, Croatia, established in 2002. It focuses on curatorial practices, art festival organization, public cultural events, artwork production, education, publishing, and social theory. Our primary interest lies in progressive contemporary intermedia art, sound art, and experimental music, particularly in projects that explore the intersections of science, technology, and the human body within society. We prioritize contemporary issues, thought-provoking themes, and subjects that are often considered taboo.

The KONTEJNER team has successfully curated and organized over 120 exhibitions, performances, lectures, workshops, and presentations featuring both international and Croatian artists, theorists, philosophers, scientists, hackers, and innovators. Our projects have reached audiences in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, and China, participating in major international events like the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (2022), as well as large thematic festivals such as Device_art, Touch Me, and Extravagant bodies. Additionally, we have facilitated artist residencies and educational initiatives aimed at artists, cultural workers, and the general public. By 2023, KONTEJNER has produced and co-produced over 100 artworks and published more than 20 books.

KONTEJNER operates within the realm of cross-sector collaborations and maintains connections with a diverse array of institutions, organizations, and individuals, including universities, museums, and research institutes across Europe and beyond. Each year, we work alongside more than 40 global partners through various local and European projects and networks.
