During April, we organised 3 status quo research trips in Croatia, Kosovo and Slovenia. Trhe trips were focused on researching the status quo for independent spaces. With these trips we want to jump-start a process for creating new ideas and solutions to overcoming issues of sustainability and organising residencies and mobilities, while using that as a basis for advocacy for much needed new approaches and new policy moments for independent cultural spaces. Furthermore, research activities in the project are used to gain status quo insight into the state of independent spaces in Croatia, Kosovo and Slovenia regarding their capacities to organise and host residencies. Specifically, it will investigate capacities, opportunities, obstacles independent spaces face in hosting residencies. Research will mainly be done by qualitative research, mostly through interviews with diverse actors around independent spaces in several cities in every partner country, conducted by outside experts from one of the other partner countries.
The researchers conducting the trips were: Leda Sutlovic, Karolina Babic and Rozafa Basha.
We are now eagerly awaiting their reports which will form the base to build the project on, as it will give insight into which aspects and problem areas need to be addressed through the project.
