The second-to-last chapter of my residency in Kranj was devoted to the finalization of my conceptual work and the research I had been weaving together for the video piece and the accompanying publication, Speculative Sonic Ecosystems.
This phase revolved around two essential pillars: finding the right designer and giving shape to the publication through writing, dialogue, and collaboration. I had the pleasure of working with Klara Debeljak, whose sensitivity, patience, and artistic intuition greatly enriched the project. I am deeply grateful for her effort and the care she invested into bringing the book to life.
However, not everything unfolded seamlessly. I encountered some challenges with the venue regarding the pop-up exhibition — specifically, disagreements about the placement, timing, and date, despite prior agreements. Unfortunately, this situation demanded more of my energy than anticipated, redirecting attention away from what should have been a focused and celebratory installation process. Nevertheless, such obstacles are not uncommon within the rhythms of the art world, especially when navigating spaces managed by smaller institutions with traditional leadership structures.
I would also like to warmly acknowledge Danilo’s vital support throughout the residency. From the very beginning to the final stages, his consistency, guidance, and openness made an enormous difference, and I am truly grateful for his presence.
Overall, despite the inevitable complexities, this residency was a fertile ground for growth, collaboration, and creation — an experience I will carry forward into the next chapters of my artistic and research practice.
