During the second part of our visits to Ljubljana's spaces and actors of the independent cultural scene, we continued at the same pace. We started the day at Metelkova Mesto, a former military barracks that has been the center of Ljubljana's urban culture since 1993, and we can say that it is the most famous place of its kind in Slovenia. Once a squat, today a widely recognized center of urban culture was introduced to us by members of the collective and users of the spaces, which are divided into studios, collective spaces and clubs. First, Danilo Milovanović explained the history of the space and showed the residents some of the studios. After that, we visited the Alkatraz gallery, which is part of the Metelkova area. Then we visited some of the club spaces and met with Nik Drozg, who curates the program of the Ch0 club. Nik, which particularly pleased Ismail, gave us a nice insight into the local music scene and its dynamics. The day continued with a visit to some galleries that, among others, form an independent scene, as they are not managed by the city or the state. We visited the Škuc Gallery, the P74 Gallery and the Foton Gallery, after which we headed to meet Nika Gabrovšek. Nika is a member of the KudLjud collective, which deals with a specific genre of street theatre. The specifics of the KudLjud collective are a guerrilla approach to theatre and a large dose of improvisation, depending on the circumstances. Nika shared her almost 20 years of experience with us, which was especially useful for Diona, who wants to learn about participatory artistic practices in public space. Sanja Žmavc, also a member of the KudLjud collective, joined us at the meeting later. We ended the day with a cycling tour of the city.
